I would like to join AFSS. Where do I start?

Visit the Join page to determine which division your agency's county is in - Northern or Southern. Then contact the Membership Committee Chair for that division to apply. It's that simple!

Who is on the Executive Board?

Links to the Northern and the Southern Executive Boards are on the About page. Check out who your representatives are: Northern Division and Southern Division.

Do you have Bylaws and SOGs? Where can I find them?

We do have both Bylaws and Standard Operating Guidelines. There are links on the Documents page, or view them here: Bylaws & SOGs.

What is the PRP and how do I start it?

The PRP is the Professional Recognition Program. AFSS recognizes members who show their ability to perform the knowledge, skills, and abilities within the context of a fire agency.

Members would begin at Level 1, then progress to Level 2. Review the documents here: PRP.

How often does AFSS meet and where?

Each division holds quarterly trainings/general membership meetings in March, June, September, and December. Members of AFSS will receive an email once registration is open for the next meeting. If you are not a member, you may attend meetings as a guest. Check out our Events page for upcoming meetings.

Each quarterly meeting is hosted by an AFSS member, so the location changes for each meeting. If you are a member and would like to host an upcoming meeting, contact your division's Meeting Host Coordinator.

In addition to the quarterly trainings/general membership meetings, the Executive Board also meets quarterly, usually a month prior to a general membership meeting. Agendas for the E-Board meetings are posted in advance and all AFSS members are welcome to attend.
